January 22, 2024 – Family History Research using Ancestry Programs

Time and Location: In person at the Region of Waterloo Library – Elmira Branch (65 Arthur St S, Elmira), 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Session Facilitator: Susan Arness

Did you know that you can access Ancestry Library Edition at any of the Region of Waterloo Libraries without a subscription and with no fees? This gives you access to billions of records such as census data, city directories, cemeteries, wills, immigration information, court records, military information, family histories, and birth, marriage, and death documents. Join us for a hands-on computer demonstration and workshop on getting started with Ancestry. Bring your laptop or tablet and your questions on navigating Ancestry (library edition or the subscription-based edition) and we will help with search tips and shortcuts to assist you in discovering your family roots.

Susan Arness is a professional genealogist who lives in Uptown Waterloo. She holds three advanced level certificates in genealogy: Canadian Studies, Methodology, and DNA Analysis. Susan is an active member of the Wellington Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society and is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists.
