    Discovering Your Family History - Workshop I

    Interested in starting to research your family history but don’t know where to start? Join us to learn the first few steps, what to look for and how to gather information and organize your findings. A tour of the resources and records at the Guelph Public Library including the Wellington County Branch, Ontario Genealogical Society holdings is included.   Registration for this free workshop will open in January through the Guelph Public Library website (events page).  Two further sessions in this series will be offered on February 23rd and March 9.

    Discovering Your Family History - Session 2

    In this second session of our Discovering Your Family History series, the records which can provide insight into our ancestors’ lives such as civil registrations, censuses, wills, land and property documents, maps, and much more will be explored! Learn how to access these records and what can be gleaned from them. Registration for this free workshop is through the Guelph Public Library (events page) and will open in January. The final session of the Discovering Your Family History series will be held on March 9th.

    Join us in this final session of our Discovering Your Family History workshops, to explore online resources, discover tips for conducting internet searches, how social media can be used to further your research and how to build you own research “toolbox”. An introduction to DNA testing and how this tool is being used in family history research will be discussed.
