Being stubborn enough not to give up after numerous dead ends, I followed my Ancestry profile to links on a paternal and maternal side of my father who was adopted back in 1933 directly from the hospital in East York. A number of very cautious emails back and forth revealed the direct link to my father’s biological dad, but trying to find leads on his mother seemed to show little progress, until the day I was sent the photo. The girl in the canoe in the photo was the key to unlocking a secret held for over 80 years!
